Chinese energy storage systems manufacturer Hithium has announced the start of deliveries of the first batteries produced at its new plant in Mesquite, Texas.

The new factory, covering more than 45,000 m², was officially opened in May 2025. The facility specializes in the production of complete BESS systems – from cells and modules to fully integrated stationary solutions. The first units rolled off the production line on August 28 this year.

Doubled investment and rapid execution
The decision to build the Texas plant was made in July 2024. Initially, the investment was planned at USD 100 million, but ultimately the amount was doubled in order to expand production capacity and accelerate entry into the U.S. market.

Hithium, headquartered in Xiamen, China, is one of the leading manufacturers in the energy storage sector. The company focuses on full value chain integration – from cell production and module assembly to final systems ready for deployment in grid-scale and commercial projects.

The new Hithium facility in Texas is expected to become a key part of the company’s strategy for expansion into Western markets and could play a significant role in accelerating the development of energy storage projects in the U.S.

U.S. market attracting investments
Alongside Hithium’s plant inauguration, South Korean conglomerate LG Energy Solution has begun mass production of battery cells at its plant in Michigan. This is further evidence that the U.S. market is becoming a major investment hub for battery and energy storage system manufacturers.

The growing demand for renewable energy solutions and grid stabilization is attracting the largest Asian players, who are increasingly choosing to locate production facilities in the United States.
