The public transportation fleet in Polkowice is set to receive an addition of three Yutong electric buses, specifically the E7 model. These buses were notable for transporting passengers during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The contract for providing these emission-free vehicles was formalized by Sebastian Sypko, Deputy Mayor of Polkowice, and Marcin Kucharski, President of the Management Board of Busnex Poland. This expansion aligns with the town’s commitment to greener and more sustainable transportation options.

“Polkowice is making remarkable strides in becoming a local frontrunner in the realm of electromobility. Over two years ago, the town introduced nine Yutong electric buses into its public transportation system. This commitment continues with the recent contract signing for an additional three Yutong E7 electric buses, which have gained recognition for their use during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This momentum positions Polkowice as a pivotal influencer in green transportation, inspiring other municipalities to follow suit”.

Currently, Polkowice’s public transport relies on nine Yutong E10 electric buses, which have been operational for more than two years. With the new addition of three Yutong E7 electric buses, the share of emission-free buses in the Public Transport Department’s fleet will surpass 50%. This aligns with the town’s broader aspirations for a smart city transition and a greener energy focus, especially for electric bus charging.

Mayor Łukasz Puzniecki emphasized that “the town’s dedication to eco-mobility and clean air is not just a slogan but a genuine commitment. This vision encompasses not only low-emission transport investments but also various mobility forms like city bikes, all with the overarching goal of prioritizing citizens’ well-being”.

Polkowice’s expansion of zero-emission buses is made possible through the “Green Public Transport” program, financially supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The project’s total value is slightly over PLN 5.5 million, with co-financing of nearly PLN 3.3 million from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The contract outlines the delivery of the electric buses within 10 months from the contract signing date.

Polkowice has opted for Yutong’s latest model, the E7, which will soon make its debut in the Polish market. With a length of 7 meters, this compact electric bus boasts maneuverability, 13 seats, and accommodation for disabled passengers. Its single-charge range reaches up to 200 kilometers, and energy recovery occurs during braking, thanks to the recuperation system. Additionally, the bus features air conditioning, electric heating, and monitoring systems.

Yutong Bus, holding a 15% share of the global market, is the world’s largest supplier of buses and coaches. The company’s advanced technologies and expansive production facilities enable the delivery of various types of buses, including electric, hybrid, hydrogen, and traditional fuel options, to cities worldwide.

Busnex Poland serves as the official representative of Yutong Bus in Poland. The company has delivered nearly 100 electric buses to 18 local governments across seven provinces during its three-year presence in the market. It also offers comprehensive technical support and knowledge of electric bus operations, along with service points and spare parts distribution in strategic locations.
