Free public transport in Działdowo will be powered by Yutong electric buses

Nearly five years ago, Działdowo introduced a unique public transport system that offers free rides for local residents using the Działdowo Citizen Card. This effort aligns with their focus on modernizing their urban transportation services. Recently, the Mayor of Działdowo, Grzegorz Mrowiński, and Marcin Kucharski, President of Busnex Poland, signed a contract to bring in four new electric Yutong buses, further enhancing the town’s commitment to sustainable and efficient public transportation options. This initiative not only makes transportation more accessible but also contributes to a cleaner environment by using electric buses.

“Działdowo continues to make commendable strides in promoting sustainable transportation. Their trio of achievements – offering free public transportation, utilizing Yutong electric buses, and being a part of the Warmia and Mazury region – exemplify their commitment to innovative and eco-friendly mobility solutions. The President of the Management Board of Busnex Poland, Marcin Kucharski, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, noting Yutong’s success in the Warmia and Mazury region”.

Działdowo’s free public transport fleet will now feature four Yutong electric buses. These include two models: the compact Yutong E7, recognized for its use during the World Cup in Qatar, and the popular E9 model. The E7, at 7 meters long, covers up to 200 kilometers on a single charge, while the larger E9, spanning almost 9 meters, can travel over 350 kilometers on a single charge. Both models are designed to accommodate people with disabilities and limited mobility, equipped with automatic air conditioning, electric heating, and monitoring systems.

Mayor Grzegorz Mrowiński emphasized that “the decision to invest in modern zero-emission electric buses stems from the community’s increasing use of public transport in Działdowo. This environmentally conscious step was aided by funding from the Regional Operational Program of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, totaling nearly PLN 7 million. The project not only includes the purchase of electric buses but also encompasses charging stations and infrastructure dedicated to public transportation”.

The success of Działdowska Public Transport, introduced in July 2018, led to its establishment as a free service for residents with the Działdowo Citizen’s Card. Covering four lines, the increasing number of passengers propelled the local government to adopt electromobility as a solution. “This commitment aligns with the Warmia and Mazury region’s focus on clean transport and its participation in the global revolution of electromobility”.

Yutong Bus, commanding a 15% share of the global market, holds the distinction of being the world’s largest supplier of buses and coaches. The company’s advanced technologies and production capacity facilitate the delivery of various bus types, including electric, hybrid, hydrogen, and traditional fuel buses, to cities across the globe.

Busnex Poland, the official representative of Yutong Bus in Poland, has already played a significant role by delivering and contracting over 90 electric buses to 18 local governments from seven provinces in just three years. The company offers comprehensive technical and service support, contributing to the effective operation of electric buses. Furthermore, Busnex Poland collaborates with the DBK Group to provide service points and a spare parts warehouse, bolstering the support network for electric buses in Poland.
