Eurowind Energy, in collaboration with BOS Power, is starting the implementation of one of the largest energy storage systems in Denmark. The installation will become an important part of the advanced hybrid wind-solar power plant at GreenLab Skive. The goal of the project is to improve the stability of the national energy grid and efficiently manage excess renewable energy.

Expansion of GreenLab Skive

BOS Power, as the system integrator, will supply a 45 MWh battery with a storage duration of two hours. The package includes the energy storage system, power converters (PCS), energy management system (EMS), transformers, and switchgear. Eurowind Energy is responsible for the construction phase of the project.

The new energy storage system will become an integral part of the GreenLab Skive hybrid park, which has a capacity of 84.8 MW and produces 186 GWh of electricity annually. The installation is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025. The implementation of this solution will enable the provision of ancillary and stabilizing services to Denmark’s transmission system operator, Energinet.

Denmark’s Openness to BESS Systems

The introduction of the BESS system will significantly increase the flexibility and stability of the grid, enabling more efficient integration of wind and solar energy. The storage system will provide rapid power compensation, thereby minimizing the risk of energy supply disruptions.

“BOS Power’s experience with large storage systems and the integration of renewable energy sources makes them the ideal partner for this ambitious project. The BESS technology is a key element in our energy parks, ensuring stable and efficient energy deliveries and auxiliary services for local grids and the global energy transition,” said Morten Gaarde, Global EPC Director at Eurowind Energy A/S.

Carsten Højerup, PowerGen Director at BOS Power, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration: “This is one of many projects carried out with Eurowind Energy, demonstrating their innovative approach and ambitions. The company plays an important role in the market as a leader in hybrid energy solutions. Their commitment to carbon neutrality and grid stability goes beyond Denmark, making them one of the pioneers of Europe’s energy transition.”
