Tesla will build a factory in Romania
Tesla’s Czech division has unveiled its intentions to establish an energy storage facility in Braila, located in eastern Romania. The construction of this facility is slated to commence this year, with an annual production capacity set at 2 gigawatt-hours (GWh). This strategic move is expected to play a pivotal role in generating a substantial turnover of EUR 1 billion for Tesla’s operations in the region.
Diversified production and public support
Tesla’s upcoming plants in Romania are poised to manufacture energy storage solutions catering to diverse sectors, encompassing households, industrial applications, and electromobility. In alignment with its commitment to the new factory, Tesla plans to generate 130 job opportunities.
Acknowledging the economic impact of this venture, the Romanian Ministry of Finance, in a decision dated December 8, 2022, granted Tesla public aid amounting to EUR 40.8 million. This financial support is part of a program specifically designed to encourage significant investments with a substantial economic footprint.
Marking its entry into the Romanian landscape in May 2022 through Tesla Energy Storage, the company’s planned investments in the country surpass a total value of EUR 90 million, underlining Tesla’s strategic and substantial involvement in Romania’s energy and economic landscape.
