Orange Polska has entered into a 10-year agreement with R.Power, commencing from July 2024. Under this arrangement, R.Power will supply the company with electricity generated by photovoltaic installations. This long-term commitment extends until 2034, ensuring the provision of over 600 GWh of solar energy during the specified period.

“This marks our next stride towards achieving zero emissions and represents another agreement finalized through the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model. Importantly, this is our inaugural venture on a substantial scale into photovoltaics within the PPA framework. With the energy assurance from this collaboration, renewable sources will account for a minimum of 65% of our electricity consumption in the upcoming years. This signifies our commitment to realizing our strategic objective of sourcing the majority of our energy from renewable sources by 2025, even amid the dynamically expanding traffic in our network,” stated Liudmila Climoc, President of Orange Polska.

Orange’s ambitious climate goals

The company’s overarching objective is to attain full climate neutrality by the year 2040. In previous initiatives, Orange Polska has successfully conserved over 1.1 TWh of energy, resulting in a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions.

During the first half of the current year, when juxtaposed with the corresponding period in 2015, the operator has managed to curtail its own emissions by an impressive 68%. Notably, this reduction has been achieved despite an eightfold surge in network traffic observed between 2015 and 2023.

Over 2/3 of energy from renewable energy sources

Presently, more than 70% of Orange Polska’s overall energy consumption is derived from renewable sources, underscoring the company’s steadfast commitment to a sustainable future and a conscientious stance on climate-related concerns.

Recognizing the substantial impact of technology companies in combating climate change, Orange Polska actively invests in renewable energy sources, endeavors to decrease CO2 emissions, and advocates for the principles of the circular economy. This multifaceted approach reflects the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and aligns with broader efforts to address climate challenges.
