Greece allocates 200 million euros to subsidies for photovoltaic installations with energy storage
The Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy has unveiled a fresh subsidy initiative designed for photovoltaic installations and energy storage systems. A significant budget of EUR 200 million has been earmarked for this program, which primarily targets projects within the residential and agricultural sectors.
Starting from April 1st, Greek households and farmers will have the opportunity to seek public funding for the acquisition and setup of integrated photovoltaic systems with energy storage. According to the statement by Kostas Skrekas, the Greek Minister of Energy, households can apply for subsidies reaching up to EUR 16,000 per individual, whereas farmers can receive up to EUR 10,000. The program also outlines a maximum power capacity for photovoltaic installations, which is set at 10.8 kWp.
These announced subsidies are intended to cover up to 100% of the expenses associated with procuring and installing energy storage facilities in the initial phases. The launch of this new program is aligned with the country’s strategy for recovery in the post-pandemic period.
