Record Orders for Eos Znyth Zinc Batteries in Texas
Eos Energy Enterprises has signed a framework agreement with Bridgelink. This agreement allows for the installation of energy storage systems up to 500 MWh in projects in Texas, USA. These systems will use Eos Znyth zinc batteries.
The most important provisions of the agreement
Bridgelink Commodities, a division of Bridgelink, focuses on energy trading and operations and maintenance (O&M) activities. It has agreed to purchase an initial 240 MWh of Eos Znyth energy storage capacity. The agreement can be expanded to a total of 500 MWh over the next three years. In a March 9, 2022 press release, Eos stated that this would bring the total value of the order to $150 million.
Additionally, the Energy Information Administration has recognized Texas as the leading U.S. state for planned increases in solar and battery capacity for 2022-2023.
We continue to be excited about our ability to deliver flexible energy storage solutions to the market. (…) We are proud to partner with Bridgelink to help build the energy infrastructure, and we are confident that our agreement will be the beginning of a fruitful partnership for many years to come.
Joe Mastrangelo, CEO of Eos
Chief Commercial Officer Balki Iyer stated that the Bridgelink deal increases the battery maker’s backlog to over $200 million. Eos aims to reach $400 million in orders in 2022, with a current business capacity exceeding $4 billion.
With this partnership, our backlog grows to over $200 million and is rapidly approaching 1 GWh. We continue to make real progress toward our goal of booking $400 million in 2022 orders, with a commercial potential of over $4 billion.
Balki Iyer, Chief Commercial Officer
Purpose of ordering Eos Znyth zinc batteries
Bridgelink, which has more than 8 GW of renewable energy projects under development, will use Eos Znyth technology to help reduce renewable energy supply constraints by providing balancing services to ensure the resilience of the local power grid overseen by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (“ERCOT”).
William Flaherty, managing director of Bridgelink, said the Eos battery storage is the perfect solution for his company’s needs. “Although they are available in three-hour cycles, they can be stacked together to create long-lasting energy storage, up to 12 hours.”
ERCOT is a dynamic market that requires long-duration storage technologies to succeed in this changing environment.
William Flaherty, Managing Director, Bridgelink
Eos Znyth zinc batteries meet safety standards, have low production costs, and are manufactured locally in the USA. Additionally, they have low operating costs.
Our groundbreaking Znyth water-based zinc battery was designed to overcome the limitations of conventional lithium-ion technology. Safe, scalable, efficient, sustainable – and manufactured in the United States – it is at the core of our innovative systems that now provide utility, industrial and commercial customers with a proven and reliable alternative to energy storage.

About the manufacturer Eos Znyth and other investments
Eos was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Edison, New Jersey. In 2020, Eos went public on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange after merging with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The organization accelerates the transition to clean energy with innovative solutions that transform energy storage.
Last November, Eos announced a major sale to Blue Ridge Power. According to the release, Blue Ridge Power will purchase 300 MWh of Eos Znyth energy storage systems, which will be integrated into multiple projects this year and next.
Late last year, Eos signed a long-term agreement with chemical company TETRA for the supply of zinc bromide used in battery electrolyte from sources in the US.
Last month, Eos announced plans to more than triple the capacity of its Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania plant. This expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2022, increasing annual production capacity to 800 MWh. The move is in response to growing demand for zinc-based energy storage systems and is expected to create more than 125 green jobs.
