Green hydrogen in Żuławy Wiślane, production will start on a large scale
A significant and extensive renewable energy project is set to be developed in Żuławy Wiślane, and it involves the construction of a green hydrogen plant. The project will be implemented in multiple stages and encompasses various elements, including wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, electrolysers, energy storage facilities, and other related infrastructure. This initiative reflects the commitment to advancing green hydrogen production and renewable energy in the region.
How great will the efficiency of the facilities be after implementation?
Upon completion, the project is projected to generate approximately 2.2 million megawatt hours (MWh) of energy each year. The company’s estimates indicate that this investment will yield a capacity roughly ten times greater than the largest Polish photovoltaic farm, which has a capacity of approximately 200 MW and is located in Zwartów. This underscores the substantial impact and potential of the green hydrogen plant in terms of renewable energy production in the region.
What is included in the investment?

These will be the already mentioned wind turbines with a capacity of approximately 400 MW and photovoltaic panels with a capacity of approximately 800 MW. Their task will be to obtain energy from renewable sources.
In addition, the project will include the construction of energy storage facilities, electrolysers and additional infrastructure.
Why Żuławy Wiślane? Does location matter?
Certainly, the primary source of electricity production for this project will be wind turbines. This choice of location in Żuławy Wiślane, spanning several communes, was driven by the exceptional wind conditions in the area. Żuławy Wiślane is recognized as one of the top locations in Europe for harnessing wind energy, making it a strategic choice for the development of this green hydrogen plant.
We are confident in the current shape of the project and its location. Energy will be produced mainly from wind energy, and Żuławy is one of the best places in Europe in this respect.

Purpose of the generated energy
The excess heat produced while making hydrogen can be used to heat homes in the Tricity area (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot) and for various industrial processes. This helps make better use of the energy and benefits both residents and industries in the region.
What company is behind this project?
Green Capital SA, a company with expertise in developing wind farms and renewable energy projects, is spearheading this initiative. They have been active in the renewable energy market since 2008 and are now planning a significant investment in Żuławy. Will it be worth it?
Green Capital anticipates that the electricity production costs from their forthcoming wind farms in Żuławy Wiślane will be significantly lower, estimated to be several dozen percent less than the production costs of offshore wind farms. Furthermore, when compared to the existing coal-fired power plants in Poland, the cost of electricity production from Green Capital’s investment is expected to be notably lower, ranging from 2.5 to 3 times less expensive. This cost-effectiveness highlights the positive impact of renewable energy on reducing electricity generation expenses.
What is the value of the investment?

The exact number is not yet known.
However, according to estimates, the investment value may probably amount to approximately EUR 1.28 billion.
How does the investment perform in terms of ecology?
In terms of ecological and environmental considerations, all indications suggest that the green hydrogen plant in Żuławy Wiślane will be highly favorable. This is attributed to the use of advanced technology and renewable energy sources. Moreover, the materials used in constructing the various components of the plant are eco-friendly, with around 90% being recyclable. The remaining 10% can also be reused, although with some limitations on the extent and applications. This approach underscores the plant’s commitment to sustainability and minimizing environmental impact.
The planned wind farms are expected to produce more energy than is needed for their production after just seven months of operation.
