Switch Technologies Unveils the World’s First Vehicle Powered by Echion Technologies’ XNO® Ultra-Fast Charging Technology. Switch Technologies, an engineering service provider for batteries and electric vehicles, has unveiled the world’s first vehicle powered by the patented XNO® ultra-fast and high-performance charging technology developed by Echion Technologies. A modified Toyota Land Cruiser 79 hybrid was showcased during a demonstration at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in Perth.

XNO® Cells: Fast Charging and High Performance

The Land Cruiser is equipped with cells developed by Li-FUN, a partner in the development of XNO® cells. This technology enables lithium-ion batteries to charge quickly and safely in under 10 minutes while maintaining high energy density even in extreme temperatures and offering over 10,000 charge cycles.

Vehicle Adaptation for Mining Applications

Switch developed new XNO® battery modules and modified the drivetrain and control systems to adapt the Land Cruiser for mining operations. The company has already begun extensive testing for heavy industry applications.

The event attracted over 60 representatives from leading mining companies, service providers, and government stakeholders. Mining sector customers noted that the vehicle could operate as fully electric during a single work shift, with the option for full diesel range if needed.

Industrial-Scale Production of XNO® Technology

XNO® technology is now available on an industrial scale through Echion’s partnership with CBMM. Earlier this year, the world’s largest niobium anode production facility was inaugurated, with a capacity of 2,000 tons per year—enough to supply 1 GWh of lithium-ion cells.
