One in five respondents believes that nature can no longer be saved. This is not true – respond the authors of the Report, Deloitte and Respect Energy
Deloitte has crafted a report titled “Nature and business: Risks and opportunities in a changing reality,” serving as a guide for companies. Respect Energy, a Polish company in the photovoltaics industry, is the initiator and project partner. The report’s substantive partners include WWF, Global Nature Fund, and Grid Warsaw.
The TNFD (Working Group on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) released recommendations in September, prompting a significant response from companies worldwide to engage in conservation efforts. Over 320 organizations from 46 countries have pledged to disclose nature-related information in line with these recommendations. It’s noteworthy that the recent focus on biodiversity by companies aligns with the emergence of reporting requirements for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities within the past year or two.
Companies for nature – a guide to activities
The report not only outlines the impact of humans and various economic sectors on nature but goes beyond by providing examples of actions taken by over a hundred companies in the European Union. This serves as a guide for any company across diverse economic sectors to contribute to nature conservation. Surprisingly, one in five respondents feels that nature’s devastation has reached a point where corrective measures seem futile. Despite this pessimistic outlook, the report suggests a viable path for companies to genuinely influence and halt the ongoing destruction of our planet’s biodiversity.
Conclusions
The report’s primary conclusions are as follows:
