The Bank Ochrony Środowiska (BOŚ) applied for extra money, about PLN 150 million, to add to the fund that gives out subsidies for leasing zero-emission vehicles. This application got approved by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. Now, the program has more money, making the total budget (for the leasing part) reach PLN 400 million.

“My Electrician” is an excellent public program that helps achieve important environmental goals and boosts economic growth. It effectively increases the number of eco-friendly cars on Polish roads, and the leasing option supports businesses in pursuing their green ambitions. The ongoing strong interest in the program confirms its success. The decision by the Management Board of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management to add PLN 150 million more to the total funding available for leasing is great news, especially for customers—mainly business owners—who are considering leasing an electric car but haven’t applied yet. What’s really easy is that the “My Electrician” program works through a “single window”. All the paperwork for leasing and payments is managed by the customer through a chosen leasing company partnered with BOŚ. Dr. Emil Ślązak, who is also a professor at SGH, and currently the acting president of BOŚ, highlighted these points in a statement.

Over 7,000 applications for an electric car subsidy

There are two ways to make use of My Electrician. This program helps by sharing the cost of getting or leasing cars that don’t produce emissions. More than 7,000 Vehicles have already been given financial help through this program. Since it began, BOŚ has received around 7,900 requests for help, adding up to more than PLN 262 million.

When the leasing option of the program started, BOŚ had PLN 20 million to help out, but they’ve been steadily increasing the program’s budget.

According to the Polish Alternative Fuels Association, there are about 67,100 electric cars registered in Poland by the end of March 2023. The growing interest in this program will likely make these numbers go up even more soon.
